As with any animal,if dogs are kept outside by themselves they can be neglected because a lot of pet owners get fed up,or don't have time due to work load, with the DAILY tasks of going out there, playing and comforting their animal, cleaning up after them, and feeding them.
It is harder sometimes to keep a larger breed inside, but the above still applies.
Dogs are pack animals and need the stimulation and love from their owners as they class them as one of the pack.
Without this contact they can become distructive and stressed and uncontrolable.
I suggest that if you are not willing or don't have loads of time to spend with your dog then you should find him a new home.
this would be in his best interest.
You should go to your nearest rescue centre or you could look up the closest resembling breed in the dog directory i.e. if he is more mastiff look up mastiffs. This way he will be homed with a person who knows the best way to care for him.
