| hi igot a male and female lepard geko the female is eating fine ive had them 3 days and since then the male has eat 1 cricket he looks like hes going to shed today but still wont eat even when i put it in front of his nose my day temp is 85 and nite it goes to 65 dont know if the temps have out to do with it |

| are you misting the viv daily too? provide mist at least 2-3 times a day.if he doesn't get the right humidity he won't shed properly.
The temperature is correct.but there should be a basking end and cool end in the viv so the geckos have the ability to cool down.if not they will over heat.
diagnosis is difficult if the animal cannot be seen.if you are doing everything correctly and he still is not eating and looks quiet and withdrawn take him to a reptile vet.with reptiles there can be underlying problems which need veterinary attention. |

| could do with a little more weight on him.you can just see he is starting to loose it.He is a little bit over wrinkled on his side.he looks bright eyed.take him to the vet to be on the safe side.if he looses to much weight he will start having deficancies like metabolic bone disease.
you should have a stick on temperature gauge at both ends of the tank to monitor the temperature daily. |

| ive only had him 3 days thats wot he looked like before i bout him hes go thinner now so ill have to to the vet |

| you are best to take him now while he still has life in him.
the vet can get some vitamin into him quickly and fluids if necessary before his conditon worsens.
let us know how you get on. |

Nerys |

| I DEEPLY RESPECT YOU HELP NERYS,BUT AT THIS STAGE THE VET IS THE BEST OPTION.
IF IN DOUBT ABOUT ANY ANIMALS HEALTH A QUALIFIED REPTILE VET SHOULD BE ADVISED AND CONSULTED IMMEDIATELY. AS YOU CANNOT GET THE NECESSARY TREATMENT OVER A FORUM,AND THE LONG THE CONVERSATION IS PUT FORWARD THE LONGER TTHE ANIMAL IS SUFFERING IF IT IS ILL.
A FORUM WILL NOT KEEP THE ANIMAL ALIVE IF IT NEEDS HELP.
THE ONLY THING WE CAN DO IS OFFER OUR EXPERIENCES AND ADVICE ON THE BASIC CARE AND NEEDS OF THE ANIMAL INVOLVED.WHICH I AM SURE YOUR INTENTIONS WERE AIMED AT. |

| was just a suggestion Kay. calm down
youve alredy said he should go a vet... hes just saying for more help go to the forum |
31-01-2007 by loulou
| whoa calm down Kay it was a little more help what is the harm in helping someone, as already stated you recommended a vet way before there was no need for nerys to recommend a vet again
Plus if you have only had them 3 days they may well not eat they need to settle in for a while it can take a few days or a week for them to feel safe a secure before they start eating again, also if in shed they may go off their food some geckos dont eat while they are shedding,
TBH the picture looks good a nice fat tail there

| Oh and also MBD is caused by lack of calcium not loss in weight, |

| Hi Loulou-a matter of opinion on recommending a vet.
i put down some information before i recommended a vet,if you look at another forum article that this gentleman has asked advice on,you will notice he has been sent away for treatment, due to the above problem.I recommended a vet as advice due to the fact that a problem like this cannot always be solve by forum advice alone, and as this person is new to geckos it was a suggestion as i did not want him to end up with a very ill gecko. We also donot know the background of the gecko, before he was bought. He could have been sick beforehand. if a gecko is not eating it is going to suffer lack of calcium and other vitamins.MBD was an example.
i agree he does look handsome.
Your second paragrapgh makes sense |

| Kay we agree with you about the Vet.. but this we already knew/ We knew why you suggested taking to him a vet and thats right. But the thing is he was simply making a suggestion, let him have his say, you had yours
As for vet checking etc, i adivise going the vet (if possible) straight after purchase or the same day so that the animal can then settle in for a week, rather than continue the stress over a period of days. IN his case is wasnt done though, just my opinion |

Kay he was giving help- like the thread asked. He was right in what he did. Neither of you were wrong in this situation, however i think you need to lay off abit when people make suggestions to help others Not trying to cause anything here, just my 2 cents |

| Oh Tony if your still reading this, it wont harm a vet check- you probably should but do note it takes awhile to get them going my gecko did not feed for 6 days when i got her, however the vet said she was fine just let her settle in, then if she didnt get better, come back |

| *didnt get better (as in feeding lol) |
