| 30-01-2007 by spike | I have a blue female lovebird, who is depressed and love sick sitting in a big avery all on her own. I think she is a madascan. Does anyone know if the blue ones are this. And where can I find a mate? |

some come from africa and some from madagascar,all depending on the species.some are just mutations of various species.if you go to www.parrotparrot.com there is loads of information on the origins and upkeep. Out of thought:-if the mate died to unknown circumstances my first instinct will be to get the female vet checked. There could be an underlying illness that may effect a new mate if added, or it could be a diet deficancy,or just old age. zoonoses like bird flu can be in the birds system but the bird can show no signs of illness sometimes and drop dead. zoonoses are illnesses that can be passed on to humans and other birds. YOU HAVE A FEW OPTIONS OF WHERE TO FIND ONE.A RESCUE CENTRE,A BREEDER OR SOMETIMES PET SHOPS WILL HAVE THE ODD INDIVIDUAL(NOT MY FAVORITE CHOICE MIND YOU). DETERMINE THE SEX CAN BE DIFFICULT THOUGH.YOUCANNOT TELL FROM MARKINGS.MY BEST CHOICE IS A RESCUE CENTRE AS THEY SOMETIMES HAVE INDIVIDUALS DUE TO UNFORSEEN CIRCUMSTANCES. |
