Chipmunk Introduction |
14-05-2007 by staceyvice
| Hello
I bought a female chipmunk last night and intriduced her to my boy and they were fine last night. There were no fights or chasing after one another untill today In fact he just ignored her and acted as if he was scared of her. I have a cage that is split in to four levels and when the new chipmunk now tries to go to the top level where he is playin around he will chase her back down to the lowere levels.
Before i put her in the cage i completely cleaned evrything in his cage so that there was no scent of him.
Im worried that he is rejecting her and that he might hurt her. Can anyone suggest anything that i can do or is this simply normal behaviour. Im really worried guys. | 15-05-2007 by Danielle Reilly
| I know that other rodents such as gerbils, degus, and chinchillas have to have a lengthy introduction period. When I kept these I used to keep them in seperate cages, side by side so that they could get to know one another. I used to do this for about a week. This workrd fine for me. Maybe this would work for chipmunks? I hope this helps. Danni |
