| I am an elderly handicapped lady and I have a wonderful little mixed breed pup. Chihuahua/Boston Terrier.
I have had him for a month and still am having trouble having him go on the pad. He does wonderful many days and just the opposite on other days. now he drags the pad all over the place and rips it apart. He knows where to go so I don't understand it. I am unable to take him out so he needs to go on the pad. The other thing is jumping on me after I give him attention in the AM. He is in and out between my ankles sl that I have to put him in his cage or I will go down. ANY HELP will be gratefully accepted. There must be a sure way. I have had 15 dogs over my 80 years but they were all large ones. This is a first for a little one. Thank you:( I cry every day) What am I doing wrong? HELP me please: | 06-11-2007 by KAY GARDNER
| IT TAKES MORE THAN A MONTH FOR ANY DOG TO SETTLE INTO ITS NEW HOME.
HE OBVIOUSLY NEEDS TO FIND HIS PLACE AT THE MOMENT. OUR WHIPPET WHO WAS A LITTLE MADAM WHEN WE HAD HER AS SHE WAS SPOILT ROTTEN, EVEN DOWN TO BEING GIVEN THE OWNERS DINNER AND CUPS OF TEA,TOOK AT LEAST SIX MONTHS TO BECOME MANAGABLE,THROUGH THE HELP OF OUR QUALIFIED DOG TRAINER AND BEHAVIOURIST.HOW OLD IS THIS LITTLE DOG AND WHAT BACKGROUND DOES HE COME FROM??
THERE ARE MANY REASONS FOR BAD DOG BEHAVIOUR AND THERE ARE WAYS TO SORT THEM OUT. FIRSTLY AS WITH A BIG DOG, SET GROUND RULES, DON'T LET HIM EAT BEFORE YOU AND DON'T LET HIM JUMP ON YOUR LAP WHEN HE FEELS LIKE IT,PUSH HIM DOWN IF HE TRIES.KEEP HIM OFF THE BED AND SOFA UNLESS YOU SAY HE CAGO ON THERE. HE WILL LEARN.ALSO LOOK AT WHAT HE IS BEING FED ON. BEING A PET DOG HE NEEDS A MIDDLE OF THE RANGE PERCENTAGE OF PROTIEN 12% TO 16% FOR A ADULT DOG.24% IS FOR WORKING DOGS. TOO HIGH A PROTIEN WILL CAUSE THE DOG TO BE HYPED UP.A DRY BALANCED DIET FOR SMALL DOGS LIKE BETA OR PURINA IS OK AND GOOD FOR THE TEETH.TINNED MEATS HAVE 75% WATER IN THEM AND ARE PACKED WITH RUBBISH.
IF HIS BEHAVIOUR PERSISTS LOOK TO A QUALIFIED DOG BEHAVIOURIST AND TRAINER, BY QUSLIFIED I MEAN THEY HAVE CERTIFICATES TO PROVE THEIR STATUS. |
