| I'm seriously considering getting some bearded dragons soon, can u tell me a bit about looking after them and what they need etc;I think they are a next step up for me,i like the fact that you can interact with them more as pets, not like snakes,u feed them and they don't want to know u for 2 weeks... |
21-04-2006 by paul
| you've got a few pets there haven't you?I've heard of the geccko's,but the others i don't know what they are...?You'll have to put some pics up mate,so we can all see! |

| lol - I am gettin stacks mor eyet - just bought a banana blizzard leo too
Beardies are great as a starter lizard. The are diurnal so active during the daytime, have real character and can be super pets. You will need a decent sized viv for 1 - 3-4 foot minimum and they also require a UV source to aid in calcium and D3 absorbtion.
On the other han, there is leopard geckos. Great for people who work during the day as they are nocturnal animals. don't require a UV source and are very simple to look after. Not as greedy eaters as beardies either so maybe save a few quid on crix lmao
Here is a link to my photobucket - saves me fiddling around and posting hundreds of times with my pics!!

There are pics there of my old iguana and my chameleon too - also of my male beardie who has since gone to a friend and is now the proud father of 21 eggs with mor eon the way!!

| I'll certainly go along with pic posting....there's no such thing as too many reptile photos!! And where on earth is everyone these days? I see no huu or gtp...or any of the very many *Robs* that used to be here....ah well...at least this place hasn't been abandoned by everyone.

| lovely colours on that snake of yours,is it a female/male?Sorry i haven't got to the stage where i can tell the sex of snakes/reptiles etc,not been keeping them long myself.Your right, where is everyone these days,i feel like Shaun of the dead,it's spooky, man, it's really weird... |

| Shaun of the Dead.....hell that's funny!! Have you seen the out-takes from that film? They're excellent!
The snake above is one of my breeding males, a rampant little soul. He's a candycane cornsnake....named Bitty! How's things going with your snakes? I hope they are settling nicely for you.
And thanks for saying hello, it's good to know people still come here.

| And now for another pic....this is kind of an *in memoriam*...Jabberwocky passed away last year, but he gave us a lot of wonderful years with his companionship...so that's another thumbs-up for beardies!!

| I fancy a beardie myself and i will get one as soon as circumstances allow. How long did yours live for Corn-Dorm?Yours looks quite big,was he fully grown? |
27-04-2006 by The Corn-Dorm
| In that photo, Jabberwocky was approximately 22 inches from nose to tail tip; a good sized adult. He was 11 when he passed away...a very respectable age! You'll love every minute of a beardies company, plenty of research will make sure that your future pet will have a long life too.
I started by feeding a mixed diet, crickets etc alongside a good selection of fruit and veg (don't feed lettuce, it's got nothing of use in it and can cause an upset tum!)...Jabberwocky liked parsley, kale, grated carrot and apple, to name a few. We also provided him with nutritional supplements, ie. calcium...but as he got older it was easier to ensure that he got all of his daily requirements AND stayed in good shape by feeding a pelleted diet (soaked in water pre-feeding). Beardies will over eat and become obese if they get half a chance!
