I cant think of dog and cat food being too good for them
You can feed garters , guppies and mollies, if he will take them, and possibly with a supplement. Small goldfish is another favourite of this snake. Sometimes they will even eat fish fillet. They are unlikely to eat crickets, but some have been known to take them! However, pinkie mice have all the nutricional value for these snakes, so feeding fish, crickets, fillet, should be used with supplement, but only as treats. Reaaly, these snakes should feed mostly on mice, but perhaps once or twice a week, feed treats! Good luck.

No, crickets arent a problem for these snakes, but as said they shouldnt feed on them all the time. Remeber these can actually bite back too!

the best food you can get your garter snake on is pinkies and mice of an appropriate size, as they are nutritionaly complete cat and dog food is a big no no full of fat and salt and totally different nutritionaly to what a snake needs
