keeping anoles and tree frogs together |
04-12-2006 by jessica
| Look on classifieds... there is some one seeling 5 anoles with about 4 tree frogs all in an exo terra.. can you do this? I've never heard of keeping lizards and frogs in the same tank? | 04-12-2006 by KAY
| Ive heard of people doing it,but some species of frog can be temperamental, stress easily and will not feed properly.and also because the anoles eat quite fast they may not get chance to feed properly, anoles are also very energetic, it may stress the frogs out if the tank is not big enough.
I have had anole experience myself.
The person selling them looks as though he has got the balance right and has a good size tank.
The species anole he keeps live at the same temperature and humidity, eat medium crickets(the same as his species of frogs) and blend into the shrubery he has in his tank so dont disturb the frogs.
My only other concern for other people doing this is some species of lizard have to have different temperatures, humidity and diet, so not all can live together, also there is a risk of passing on infections to the vunerale tree frogs,so unless the purchaser has a knowledge of anoles, lizards and frog species it would be inadvisable to try his method. | 04-12-2006 by jessica
